George Leibbrandt is an experienced lawyer who practices exclusively in the area of management-side labour relations and employment law. His client base is predominantly comprised of privately held and family owned concerns ranging from small sole proprietorships to large businesses with substantial workforces and partnerships. His clients cross a broad spectrum of industries such as the automotive sector, information technology, marketing, homebuilding, manufacturing and construction. George has also represented large public sector clients that include school boards, universities, colleges, hospitals and nursing homes.

George is a former teacher and is an excellent communicator and public speaker. As a result, he is able to reduce highly complex legal issues to manageable business terms. George frequently speaks at conferences and seminars regarding the legal rights and obligations of employers. However, as entrepreneurs don’t want to be lectured on the law, George provides timely and proactive advice to company owners and management on all aspects of workplace management and workplace law, be it regarding day to day operational queries, improving environment, process, policies and practices or intricate and sensitive corporate strategic matters. His support takes him to areas of risk management and restructuring, employee discipline, employee and management termination, wrongful dismissal litigation, employment standards, privacy, human rights, occupational health and safety, unfair labour practice complaints and injunctions.

George also has experience in union certification drives, managing grievances, collective agreement negotiations, arbitrations, and strikes. In this regard he advises management on negotiating collective agreements, how to maintain a union free environment, union organizing drives and the certification process, the administration and enforcement of these agreements through grievances and arbitration and guidance through a strike. George appears on behalf of management before numerous administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Information and Privacy Commission and arbitration boards.
