Through the years, we have acted for municipal governments and agencies, builders and developers, landlords and tenants, public and private corporations - from sophisticated landmark developments to smaller project financing and leasing.
In addition to basic commercial real estate-based acquisitions, dispositions, and financings our Group has acted on projects in condominium development, joint ventures, syndications, zoning matters, distress property realization, restructurings and unique ownership vehicles.
One of our unique abilities is to effectively deal with municipal, planning and development law, including environmental approvals, from both the private sector and public sector perspective. Our lawyers have acquired a reputation for delivering successful results for clients. Understanding their business and intimately understanding the workings of local municipality and their Committee of Adjustments, we are able to develop solutions to the issues raised in the approvals process that are acceptable to our clients from a business perspective, while at the same time address the concerns of municipalities and other approval authorities in an effective manner.
When remedies or enforcement are needed, we represent commercial landlords, lenders, investor groups, developers and landowners in many areas of litigation including lease defaults and disputes and tax shelter disputes, applications for partition and sale of commercial, industrial and residential property, interference by neighbouring landowners, encroachments under agreements for purchase and sale, construction liens, mortgage enforcement, workouts and insolvencies.
